Audio Systems: what all do I need?, ford f 150, rca outputs

Question
Hey,my name is Dustin,Im 15,I guess you could say that I dont know very much about the stereo system in my Ford F-150 extended cab, most of the other guys have a system that is loud and mostly bass.
Ya I want good bass but I want somthing that sounds nice when Im listening to songs that dont have very much bass to.
My question is what all do I need amp's,subwoofers, tweeters, etc,to get that nice sound and loud bass that I want for my truck?
Oh and are bass cans another option insted of subwoofers?
If you are wondering,no I dont have a lot of money to spend.

Answer
great! this is what I like too.  anyone can be loud but it takes some extra effort to sound good and be musical too.
if you dont have alot of money what you're going to need to do is decide what is the most important stuff to get first.  you can always add later.  Its usually a good idea to get say, a better sub and amp and head unit and skip the door speakers for now, then to spend the same amount of money on a cheaper sub, amp, head unit and door speakers and all the trimmings etc.  know what I mean? if you get good stuff now you can make it sound even bettet when you get more money but if you get cheap junk now then adding to it later will just sound like adding onto cheap junk.

usually for a good sound quality setup you'll want to do these things first:

#1 - change the cd player - #1 thing to getting great sound. factory decks dont have RCA outputs so you're forced to use the speaker outputs which never sound as good.  crutchfield has alot of inexpensive cd players.  the DUAL cd player for $80 got 4.5 out of 5 stars over 82 reviews! I like alpine, sony and clarion are ok.  blaupunkt is junk, stay away from them.  check out this link to see them:

usually I've found cheap cd players to sound pretty much exactly the same as expensive ones,  the more expensive ones will just give you features and also wont skip as easy.  the cheap cd players USUALLY have a habbit of skipping over every large bump. usually you have to spend over $200 on a cd player to get better skip protection.

#2 thing is the amp and sub/s.  its important in a quality system to reach as deep as you can in the bass.  most of the systems that sound all bassy and rattly are booming up around 40-45 hz which any old sub can do, but for your music to sound really full and not boomy you need to be able to hit 30 hz or better at your bottom end. so definatly get a 12" sub.  if you have the room get 2.
I've been impressed with the POLK DB subs seen here:

http://www.cardomain.com/item/POLDB124DVC

only 65 bucks each and great power handling, work in sealed and ported boxes, etc. read the reviews.

depending on how many of these subs you get and if you even like these specific one or get something else, etc the amp will be different.  but when recomending a bang for the buck amp I always go for the power acousik gothic amps.  figure on spending $100-$150 on the amp to run 1 or 2 of these polk subs. again if you tell me that you want 2 of these I'll show the exact amp Id recomened.

as for the box, the sub box is EXTREAMLY important.  being in an extended cab you're probably not going to fit an off the shelf box, I think there are prefab boxes for this vehicle that are made of molded plastic to fit perfectly but I prefer the sound of a wood cabinet.  if you're going to build the box yourself you'll save alot of cash and get a custom fit in the process so let me know if you're planing on doing that.  you'll need a table saw and some woodworking skills.

lets start there and see if that fits your budget so far and then get back to me for the box and if you have money left over we'll pick out some more gear.
