Audio Systems: what am i doing wrong?, sony explode amp, honda passport

Question
I have a honda passport with two 12" kenwood subs with a 1200 watt sony explode amp and a bass capacitor. I'm having to keep replacing my car battery because as soon as i turn my car off for more that a couple of hours its completly dead. do you have to run a seperate ground wire for the capacitor and the amp because right now is daisy roped together if you have any info please let me know. thank you.

Answer
first thing to do is make sure the amp is turning off when the car is off.  if you look at the amp, there should be a little green light or something that comes on when the amp is in opperation.  look at that when the car is turned off and after a few seconds or so it should go out (some amps have a large bank of capacitors inside so they take about 30 seconds or more before the light goes out)
if it never goes out, then the battery is going dead becuase your amp is always on.  The amplifier has 3 power wires,  posative, negative, and remote.  pos and neg are hooked up all the time but the remote wire is the trigger for it to turn on,  if you've hooked this up incorrectly the amp will be on all the time.  you can test this by having the car off, key out, etc. and remove this wire, see if the amp turns off and your battery stays charged.  if so you'll have to see how you hooked up this remote wire and fix it.

I can help with that if you need help.  Just tell me how this test goes and what you find.
Good luck!
