Audio Systems: faceplate for sony radio cd player for car, car stereos, sony radio

Question
can you buy just the face plates for car audio

Answer
For some car stereos you can.  I have had some luck with Pioneer getting a replacement faceplate directly from the manufacturer - but they grilled me.  I had to have the original UPC code off the box, the part #, and serial # off the base unit, and the security code off the manual.   I was damn lucky I had all those things.

If you don't have all of that, or your unit is older than a few years, your chances are probably pretty slim.   I might drive to wherever you bought the stereo and see if they can help - it might improve your odds slightly if they can see that the head unit is still installed in your car and that you're not some thug who might have stolen a base unit without the faceplate.

Also, my new faceplate cost met $150 with shipping - it may be that an all new stereo is a better value for you.
