Audio Systems: Monsoon Radio, Line output converter, line output converter, radio shack

Question
Hello, I'm trying to install a subwoofer to my 2002 Pontiac grand am. I wired the power to the amp and that got power and everything but then since there are no outputs on the back of the monsoon OEM HU, i cannot just run RCA wires straight to the amp. I tried hooking the line output wires to the rear speakers that are in the trunk. After i did this i turned on the car and turned up the sound, but got no sound out of the subwoofer, i tried a few things and only got a little woof to sound here and there. The Line output converter is made by Install edge, and my amp is made by soundstream technologies. I'm putting in a 10' JL audio sub. Any answer would be more than helpful since I'm boggled by my situation...

Answer
Yes, you can run outputs off the speakers from the head to the inputs on the amp, but you must usually pad the level down so as not to overload the input. Also, the sound quality is not the best, but can work.

If you put a 1,000 ohm resistor in series with both the wires coming from the speaker output of the head it may be sufficient to do the job.  Let me know if that is too vague for you.....  1k resistors are only a few cents and can be purchased from Radio Shack or such electronics parts stores.

Hope this helps.
