Audio Systems: 97 Cavalier Stereo Wiring, stock stereo, chevy cavalier

I am in the process of installing a Cd player/Stereo into my 97 Chevy Cavalier. I am replacing the stock stereo with a "non-stock" item. The stock wiring has no indication as to what colored wire pertains to what. My question is how am I to know which stock wires should match up with my "non-stock", non-matching wires?

hi,

  i hope you havent cut the stock plug off yet ... if you havent just drop buy your local radio shack / wal-mart / circuit city ect... and ask them for and adapter harness for a 97 chevy cavy ... this will wire pretty much color to color with your head units wiring.. and it will just PLUG right into your factory plug ... so for 10 bucks you can save alot of pain
