Audio Systems: wire harness, mr2 toyota, belcaps

Question
hi i have a mr2 Toyota 1985 and i want to install a new stereo but i cannot find the wiring harness that is compatible with my stereo and my car i been looking everywhere but in  the store they only have for 1987 and  i found a website and i bought one specifically for my year car but it doesn't fit is there anyway that i can plug my stereo wiring directly to the car's wiring (the wires in the car are totally different for ex. pink/blue, black/red, red, yellow, )i don't know which one is the right one to plug in to the stereo

Answer
Ernestoo,

There is no way to directly plug the stereo into the car unless it is a factory unit from that same (or a similar/compatible) model/year.
Even with a harness adaptor, you will need to splice some wires from the stereo to the adaptor itself. A harness adaptor will only let you avoid cutting the cars' wiring (which is a very good thing). If the one you purchased does not fit the cars' factory Molex connectors, they have sent you the wrong one. Try Circuit City.

Once you have the correct harness installed:
With the included wiring diagram/instructions, you can easily determine which wires you need to splice the stereo wires into. Then, a crimping tool and a few belcaps will attach them professionally and securely.

If you need specifics on how to use a test light to do this procudure manually (without a harness adaptor), please re-ask this question and choose the 'private question' option. I would (then) be happy to give you a step by step.

Sincerely,
