I was just wonderig how to rewire a factory amp to my new cd player. when i hoot my new cd player is hooked up there is no sound though the speakers?????? when i call the delership they said that i would have to rewire the factory amp i was just wondering if you knew how to do this
-----Answer-----
First you must make sure the amp is good and that it is connected properly to the speakers.  Best way to do that is to bench test it; remove it from the car, power it with a bench supply or long leads from the car battery and hook speakers to its outut. You can feed an audio signal into it from a portable cd or cassette player, etc.

Once you know the amp is working you must make sure the two 12v lines are hooked up properly and all the speaker leads go the proper speakers.  Trace out the wires or check them with a vom to make certain.  Warning:  Do not try turning it on until you are absolutely certain the speaker wires are connected properly and there are no shorts or miswiring.

The two 12v lines are: The biggest wire goes directly to 12v fused line that is always ON.  The other is the starter wire that turns the amp on; it comes from the head unit through the ignition - or a separate manual switch if you prefer.

The above site is for a little older model than yours, but it may be useful in guiding you, at least conceptually, on how the wiring goes.

Answer
You can read through some of my other replies on this, but the general answer is:

ONE: You must/should bench test each unit if you have any question about the working status of each unit.

TWO:  You must obtain the wiring output diagram of each unit so that you know the the connections; 12v line to power the units (usually two 12 v lines to each product) and the speaker outputs for connecting to each speaker.  Then, you must obtain or check out the wiring diagram for the car. If you do not have the manual or a working diagram you must use a meter to trace down each speaker wire; marking each color and pair and then tagging them with which speaker wire it is (front right, back left, etc.).

Once you know where all the wires go you can then hook it up.

Make sense?  Hope so.

PS: You can often find wiring diagrams for various automobiles on the net by searching, but not all of them and your car is a rather difficult one to find so you may have to trace out the wires as above.  If so, the best tool to use is the VOM at Walmart for $9.83 in there electrical department.  It will also work well for checking the voltage lines; a good investment if you are going to do it by yourself.  A good install shop can do it quickly because they have lots of experience and they know from memory and other cars they have done what to do and where to go with it.
