Audio Systems: voltage regulator problem, inline fuse, regulator problems

Hi Kelly,
Thanks for answering the question about the fried Alpine decks.  I do have voltage regulator problems.  But I have a couple of more questions--is this a surge problem or the voltage being constantly above 15 volts and slowly burning the amp up?  Is it possible to protect against future surges by putting an inline fuse on the power source wire to the deck?  Thanks again.

Any voltage, for any legnth of time, over 15 V dc will hurt electronics meant for 13.8 V dc.
No fuse will protect against this, only a voltage regulator.
If your vehicle has only a generator, you may consider upgrading to an alternator, retro fit kits are available. If I could do my 1955 Ford Tractor, you can certainly do yours.
