Audio Systems: 94 Suburban amp location, factory speakers, 4 ohm speakers

Question
Hi Kelly,
I have a 94 Suburban with 6 factory speakers.  The 2 in the rear side doors do not work.  I tested the speakers and they are OK.  I was told there is a seperate amp that runs only these (2) 4 ohm speakers.  My Question is, where the heck is this amp located?  I have looked with no luck.  I was also told that there are 4 wires going to it that are pink, black, and 2 orange.  I am going to call a GM dealership and try to get the part # for this amp but I still need to find it.  Thanks for the help!  Kevin

Answer
They were behind the left cargo area trim, but that amp ran the rear roof speakers. The main amp also contains the "brain" and is above the gas pedal. You probably have a separate display above your heater controls, and the cassette in the center of the dash? If so, I would think about upgrading this whole system. They were buggy and prone to failures. Dash kits and adaptor harnesses are cheap, and most car audio shops could give you a very good price on an installed system.
