Audio Systems: 91 ford explorer stereo, fuse block, radio code

Question
i have a 91 ford explorer and i think like i cranked the radio up to high or something and now nothing will work but the power on/off its like frozen i dont know if its a radio code or something, need serious help

Answer
Doug,

ok i would like a little more info but let me tackle this from every angle i can... if this is the factory unit its fairly possible that is fried .. but first go to your fuse block and pull each and every fuse out one at a time and check for blows .. CHECK ALL fuses not just the radio ones.. replace as needed .. then try the radio .. also disconnect your negitive battery cable for 10-15 minutes this will reset your cars computer and if it was just a malfunction it could fix the hang up .. now if none of these work .. here is where the expensive part comes in .. if your head unit still functions like seek, track , stations ect just no sound then its possible you blew your speakers or a factory installed amp *check owners guide/window sticker to see if you have any factory opt amplifiers* but if the head unit is just froze up and only powers up but doesnt allow any functions then more than likly its time to get a new one .. you can pick up a new aftermarket unit anywhere from 50-300 dollars or more depending on what you want and how much you want to spend .. the install is easy you can do it yourself just make sure you buy a wire harness adapter and dash install kit for your car the install kit will have all the instructions to remove your old factory unit .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
