Audio Systems: Bose in-dash 6 disc changer, 2005 nissan pathfinder, bose system

Question
I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder with a 6 disc Bose in-dash CD changer.  A disc got stuck, I wanted to know if the whole unit would have to be replaced, or is there a way that I can get the stuck disc out.

Answer
Most cd changers and players have an eject button hidden somewhere. Usually it is a small hole somewhere  on the front panel. You take a paper clip, straighten it out and push the clip in the hole until it hits the reject button.  If it is mechanically jammed badly it still may not eject.

There are so many reasons for stuck discs; there is no universal reply.  Additionally, Bose is a non-conformist in their designs and methods and may require something totally different.  I don't have much experience with their products.  In the worst case some Bose owners have had to take their units in to a professional car shop to have the unit pulled and opened up.

Sometimes a simple reset will release the mechanism and get it going again.  Probably worth a try.  Just lift the hood and pull the plus battery cable off the battery for a few minutes.  This will totally remove power from the entire car.  WARNING: Check your manual to see if there are any anti-theft codes that will have to be reset.  Even the bose system may have a security code.  Make sure you know what it is before you remove power so you can turn it on again when it gets repowered.

All the best,
