Audio Systems: 03 ford escape, fuse panel, sorry for the confusion

Question
Sorry for the confusion.  The speaker looked fine, there was no voltage in the speaker wires with the radio on.  Seems to be a radio or wire problem, not the speaker.

Hi Kelly.  Just searching & found you!  Hope it's my lucky day.
Help!  L front speaker doesn't work.  Have traced the wiring from the main trunk near fuse panel, through door connector to speaker.  Took door apart.  Speaker looks good, no voltage when radio on.  Questions:
1.  Any other suggestions how to trace wiring?
2.  Where can I get a radio removal tool?
3.  If you do remove the radio, does Ford require a special code to make it work when you put it back in?  (My old Saab required a 6 digit code)
3.5 Can you access the wires with the radio out, or is there just a connector plug?
4.  If its a radio output problem, I'd be happy to sacrifice the L rear speaker; and either send the signal to the L front or split the signal between both speakers.
Thanks for any help!  Mike

How about just replacing that speaker? have you used a 1.5 volt battery (AA) to test it yet?

Answer
Unless you have an oscilloscope, you won't find measurable output from the stereo except at max volume. I cannot stress this enough; you must test the speaker electrically. A visual inspection will not suffice. This must be done before proceeding any farther.
