Audio Systems: mercedes benz car stereo, mercedes benz car, alpine stereo

Question
I recently bought a 2002 C320 and the Alpine stereo has not worked since I bought it.  Visually, everything comes on (light, station number etc), amplifier was checked and is fine but the there is no sound.  When you turn the volume button , it does not show the bars go up or down to show the level of sound nor does the "volume" display come on.
Thoughts?

the telephone or the cd changer is missing
the sound system is a loop if one piece is missing the audio will stop it is call fiber optic

if the units are in the vehicle the problem is one of the fiberoptic tubes is been damage and the light is not going from point a to b  i do have some pictures of the system but they are in paper
