Audio Systems: no sound, blown fuses, amplifier section

Question
i have a 2001 pontiac bonneville. i have no rca plugs in my factory stereo. i was hooking up my amplifier and instead of getting a line-out convertor i decided to splice the rca cord and run it from my amp input directly to the speakers. the speakers made a noise like electricity was running through them. after i pulled the wire out the sound would not come out. the radio comes on but no sound. the speakers still work also. i was thinking i blew the factory amp since there were no blown fuses. the other problem is i dont know if the amp is in the sterio or bolted to the car. i have called dealershipS and they tell me they dont have a clue and to bring it in so they can charge me $200.  help

Answer
well, there should be a blown fuse for the factory amp if there even is a factory amp.  tough to say.  The 01 boneville was avialable with a bose system, usually their logo will be on the radio or door speaker grills.  if not you probably dont have the bose system and you may have blown the amplifier section in the stereo itself.  let me know if you have the bose or not and we'll go from there.
also sorry it took me a while to get back to you there.
