Honda: honda transmissions, honda transmissions, honda civics

Question
My '02 dealer maintained Honda Civic LX - 4 cylinder, transmission died at 95000 miles. Viewing various sites, it appears that this is a common problem.
Where can I find the model number of the transmissions used in the Civic and Accords lines? I believe they are using the same trans in all these models. It appears that the weak link in the tranny is a screen (filter type) that prevents fluid getting to where it need to go- thereby burning out the trans. Yet, no Honda tech wants to answer or admit to this.
Honda has a problem that they are hiding from the consumer and it appears that they enjoy reaming their customers to the tune of approx. $3000. for this repair.

I have to confirm your statement by saying that yes there is a BIG problem with Honda Civics transmission especially for your year model.

I don't know of a model number system like the engines, but specifying the engine type will show possible trasnmission options.
