Audio Systems: Hooking up subs, grand prix gtp, delco radio

Question
hello, i own a 1997 grand prix gtp, with the stock delco radio.  I would like to add my sony subs and amp to this stock system.  i purchased an IEC Auloc power converter, to convert the wiring to rca.  now should i splice this in to the rear speaker wiring coming out of the radio? secondly, for my remote wire coming from my amp, am i able to splice that directly into my +12 volt ignition wire coming from my radio? any help is greatly appreciated, thanks much.

Answer
Well The best advice I can give is to change the cd player so you have RCA outputs and an amplifier trigger.  If you're not going to do that, then the easiest place to splice in that IEC auloc converter is right at the rear speakers since they usually are accessable inside the trunk in most vehicles (I believe the grand prix has rear deck speakers)

as for triggering the amp to turn on you can use any wire that goes live with the key, lights, cig lighter, stereo, pretty much anything.  there's also devices that sences when your speakers are making sound and triggers your amp to turn on only then:
