Audio Systems: I want to upgrade my Bandpass..., watts rms, watt rms

Question
First off I'd like to thank you for your quick reply.  Secondly,  I really would hate to scrap this bandpass i jut bought.  I paid 100 bucks for it and for what it's worth I think I got my monies worth.  I chose those Boss subs because they are cheap (about $30.00 a piece)  and from what I hear and read from other people who have bought them they do a pretty damn good job!  :)  I'm working on a budgjet which was why I wanted to just replace the subs and leave the enclosure alone.  I listen to mainly hip/hop and R&B, but I frequently listen to Intrumental Rock? (Santana)  I appreciate quality but at the same token want to rattle a few cages.  I definitely can't exceed the current size of that enclosure which is I believe 15"H x 30"L x 15"W.  What would I need to build this thing?

-----Question-----
I have a Dual 12" Bandpass box with a Boss CH700 1200 Watt Amplifier in my 98 Toyota Avalon.  I have the system set up bridged with the speakers wired in parallel.  I get a DECENT amount of kick out of them but am wanting more.  I was looking to replace the two sub's in the box with two Boss BL128 sub's.  My question is these subs are rated at 700 watt max and 350 watt RMS  if I buy these and run them parallel bridged would my amp be able to handle it?  The specs for my amp are:
1200 watts MAX at 600 watts x 2
200 watts RMS x 2

When I bridge the amp shouldn't it run at?:

1200 watts MAX x 1
400 watts RMS x 1

Thanks for any help you can provide!

well, they rate this amp at 600x 2 at 2 ohms peak power.  but they dont rate its RMS.. usually you can safely take the peak power and divide it by 2 so you should get 300x2 @2 ohms stereo or 600x1 rms at 4 ohms bridged.  Boss is known for overrating their stuff so maybe your 400x1 is closer, it also depends on your charging system.  how about we compromise and call it 500x1 @ 4 ohms bridged.

To make a long story short here. you say you want more "kick" but a bandpass box makes the subs sound about as loud as they can (and about as horribly distored as they can!)  They're meant to sound impressive when coming down the street, they boom but they dont rattle and shake know what I mean?  In other words I think have a few proelems here and the main problem is the bandpass box,  I wouldnt change the subs since the subs that come in bandpass boxes are disigned for that purpose and the ones you picked out say they are optimized for small sealed boxes, not bandpass.  in fact I would never recomend a boss sub for anything, they're horrible in general.  you could get better stuff at walmart.
The boss amp you have may be ok, depending on how you use it.  My sugestion is to follow the practice you use when desiging a new system:

1. access your needs (music types you listen to, prefrence between quality and loudness.)

2. plan your budget, the more you can spend within reason the better equipment you'll get

3. access your limitations. (size of box, resources of people and  materials, personal knowledge of how to do the job)

4. design system based on above criteria.

5. install the system

My job is to help with parts 3,4,5 but I need you to tell me parts 1,2 and some of 3.  then I can help you get what you want.
I think ultimately you're going to want to change that box but that depends on your answers.  you may want to change the amp depending on how it performs later.  and you may want to change those subs as well. but I think the box is really what's holding you up.  I'm willing to put in as much work as you are so pleas write back and we'll get started here.

Answer
I understand, I'm always strapped for cash too!
I really think that changing those speakers wont have much if any effect.  believe it or not the box has alot more to do with how it sounds than anything else.  also you cant just throw a set of speakers into a box, they are made for certain box types and sizes. I'd say if 60 bucks or so is all you can spend then we better spend it wisely on the thing that will make the biggest difference right?
How about this,  reply to me (mark it private!) with your email address and your phone number,  I'll make some graphs to illustrate what different box types sound like and I'll email them to you,  then I'll call ya and explain what they mean. do you want to go that route or just write on this forum.  I have a ton of information for you but I think we can discus it better than writing all day here.
