Audio Systems: Radio static when new headunit installed, alpine headunit, antenna connection

Hey Cleggsan i just bought an alpine headunit for my 04 mustang. everything works great except and ONLY when i have the radio going. its not really bad but thers is alittle static and distortion with some channels and sometimes theres no problem and sometimes all channles get it. Also a known channle station does not come in sometimes due to the high static... what could it be? thanks

Sounds like a bad antenna connection.  Recheck it and make sure the antenna wire is in good shape.

Also, can be power wire bad connection to amplifier.  Bang on the dash board to see if that influences the static one way or another.

But, on balance, seems like an antenna problem, so I would suggest you concentrate there for the solution.

PS: A ground on the antenna will cause this problem as well, so check that carefully as well.
