ok, well check the label on the PSU and see if they list the amount of AMPS that the unit puts out at +12v.  there will be several voltages listed but only the +12 matters.  it should be at least 8-10 for it to work for a cd player like this one, preferably higher.
the best way to hook it up is connect a yellow from the PSU to the yellow (constant power) of the cd player, connect a black from the PSU to the ground of the cd player.  get the fan spinning in the PSU (green to black) let it sit for a minute and then connect the RED from the cd player to another Yellow on the PSU.  if that imediatly shuts the PSU off then there simply isnt enough juice to get the cd player started.  you could try a capacitor or 2 PSUs if you have 2 of the same kind.

Let me know how it goes

ok. the psu is 6 amps. :( but i have a home stereo that is kind of crap and i would rather have the pioneer, do you think i could rip the power suply out of there and use that?

Answer
No way!  the voltage will be wrong, the amps may not be any better, and the power supply inside one a home stereo will be AC which will blow up the cd player unless you find all the components inside the stereo that convert the AC to DC and filter it! on top of that this is also very dangerous.  You could always get a better PSU like this one:
