Audio Systems: sub/amp ohms, ohm subs, 4 ohms

Question
after reading a previous question and answer, i have some clarification of what I was wodering but just wanna be 100% sure.

I have and power acoustik ov2-820 (180w rms @ 4ohms, 230w rms @ 2ohms) have a pair of 12" bazooka woofers rated @ 8 ohms 50w - 275w (RMS). If I wire these up in parallel I will be ok with the 150w? what if I want to try the 230w what could I do? should I just get rid of those 8 ohm subs and go 4 ohms or is there hope?

Answer
the ov2 amps are desigend to run at a minimum of 2 ohms stereo and 4 ohms bridged so when you put 2 8 ohm subs in parallel you get a single 4 ohm load. so actually ohms wise it's a perfect match to get th most out of that amp. actually if you got 4 ohm speakers you wouldnt be able to bridge that amp and you would be forced to run it at 8 ohms (2 4 ohm coils in series) and that amp would only put out about 350W into 8 ohms bridged. as for wattage the ov2-820 is rated for 460 watts when bridged and together your subs are rated for up to 550 so it's a good match.  I always like to have more amp power than what my subs are rated for depending on the box and application.
