Audio Systems: HOT RADIO, laser diode, hot radio

Question
MY RADIO IS GETTING REAL HOT.AND THE CD PLAYER DOESN'T WORK WHEN IT GET HOT.ITZ A JENSEN.....

Answer
Yes, it is a common problem when things get too hot.

You must determine if the heat is coming from within the cd player OR from the way it is mounted in the car and the weather conditions of your area. If you are in Florida and the  sun is shining brightly it may be external heat that is the problem.

If the unit itself is creating the heat it may be poorly ventilated or it may have problems inside.

It is normal for the unit to get very warm to the touch; but if it gets almost to the "burn your finger" hot then something is wrong.

If you can give me the car make and model, the cd player model and your weather conditions I can give you a more suitable answer.

The temperature may be normal and the cd player is prematurely cutting out due to a weak laser diode; if the set is over a couple of years of age, this could be the problem.

Let me know more.
