Audio Systems: How do i find the year of my cd player?, jvc kd, google search

Question
Hey, i got a cd player for my jeep from my friend. It is a JVC kd-sx650 400wx4. I got it hooked up. The guy said it was missing a remote for the stereo. He said there wasn't nothing to adjust the sound with. There is a remote on ebay i found and the seller said it would work for my player if it was from the last 5 years. How can i tell the year of my cd player. I can't read the serial # very well. THANKS

Answer
I am away from my office and on dialup so I can't do any research on this model.  But, you can google it or pull up the owners manual from the jvc web sites.

However, let me warn you that the installation should be preceeded by a careful examination of the wiring diagrams for your car and checking the harness to make sure you hae it connected properly.

You should be able to operate it without the remote if t is working properly.  But, if you want/need the remote you can get the part number from the manual.  (Note: If the manual is not available on the JVC web it means it is too old and is no longer supported.  They stop carrying them after 5 to 8 years, depending on their policy).

Also, you should be able to get a universal jvc remote that will operate it; do a google search for it.

Let me know if you run into stumbling block and when back in the office will look it up for you.
