Audio Systems: Changing car stereo, do I need to buy speakers?, acura cl, factory speakers

Question
The stereo in my 97 Acura CL was a Bose that died.  I have another car stereo (Aiwa) I bought last year at Best Buy, that I want to use to replace my dead one. I called to make an appt to get it changed and they said I had to buy new speakers b/c of the amps.  I went to another place that said they needed two hours labor b/c they had to bypass etc...  I feel like they are seeing a woman and thinking they can rob me blind. I am already aware I need a harness b/c the wires don't match up. So do I need to change speakers to change my car stereo?  I do not need any added expense right now!

Answer
1997
I believe those factory speakers do have amplifiers built on to each of them and will require replacement to interface with a self-powered headunit like the Aiwa.
I would not advise to bypass them since they are so old.
That is a lot of money in labor bypassing the amps (on what are very used speakers).
