Audio Systems: AMP Help, channel amp, homedepot

Question
I Hooked up my amp and subwoofers to my car about a month ago and it worked fine. But a few days ago the subwoofers stopped making the bass like they should. I think there is something wrong with my amp because when I was trying to figure out what was wrong I noticed that it power up a little, then the subwoofer would start to play, then the power on the amp would go off.
I checked the wires and made sure everything was hooked up and its fine. Sometimes it will power up and sometimes it won't but usually it doesn't play for more than 30 seconds. Since i've had those problems the most it played was about 20 minutes straight. then when I turned up my stereo the amp turned off. I have a 1000 watt fuse hooked up to the battery, with a pioneer 760W 2 channel amp, and two 12" subs by punch. Could I have blown a fuse on the amp? and if i did do you Know how much it will cost to get them replaced.

Answer
definatly not fuses.  when a fuse blows stuff will not work at all.  so if you're getting anything its not a fuse.  If we cant tell wether there's some kindof power problem or a problem in the amplifier you should put a meter across the power lines that go into the amp.  You can get a meter at walmart or homedepot or any auto shop for about 20 bucks.  the main power lines at the amplifier should show around 12.5 volts with the car off and around 13.5-14.4 volts with the car running.  check for power and turn it on and keep checking for power.  turn it up until it shuts off and test the power to see if there's still power in the right range going to the amp.  if there is you should also test the "remote" wire that triggers the amp to turn on.  that should have about the same voltage on it.  (if you need specific, step by step instructions on how to use the meter let me know)

So basically if the amp shuts off but power is still going to it then there's probably something wrong with the amp.  if power stops going to the amp then there's something wrong with your electrical system.
There could be other things too so let me know how this first test goes and we'll move from there.
Good luck!
Let me know what happens!
