Audio Systems: No sound from car deck, equipment model numbers, fuse boxes

Question
i would like to know wha is the prob. with my car deck (pioneer). Recently i wired 4 speakers(kicker midrange) to the head unit and it was playing fine until i started the car and then no sound was being played through the speakers. The deck comes on, lights up and everything but no sound is played. Do you know the prob.? and how it can be fixed?

Answer
Do you have an external amp? Or are you feeding the speakers from the head unit?

First, check your fuse boxes - most cars have two boxes; one under the hood in the engine compartment and another under the dash somewhere.

Second, check the 12v feed lines to your head unit (and amp if you have one).  There are usually two 12v lines to each unit; one is permanent power, the other is switched from the ignition for turn on.

You may find the amplifier section has been overpowered or overcurrent driven and needs repaired.

So, check the items above and if you need more come back to me but you must give me the car make, model and year and the equipment model numbers so I can know what you have going.

Thanks for your question.
