Audio Systems: Sub amp with on/off switch, audio amps, signal wire

Question
I have 2 car audio amps that I plan to install into my carm or rather pay someone to install them nicely into my car.

Since I travel with my dog, I'd like the ability to turn off my subwoofer which is installed in the cargo area of my truck, right next to my pooch.

Is there a way to easily turn the sub amp on and off from a button or switch located perhaps in my front console? I'm just looking for some ideas to tell my installer.

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Vik,
You have three wires apart from the RCA and speaker wires on an amp, Earth, Live 12v and 12v acc signal from radio.
Both amps will have these with the 12v acc wire coming from the head unit and THEN  split to both amps.
Simply disconnect the 12v acc signal wire (or cut it) on the sub amp and run a new wire to an in-line switch on the dash and back to the amp 12v acc.connection.
This will in effect switch the amp on and off as required whilst leaving the other amp working.

Hope that helps and don't forget the feed back so I know how we did, Thanks, Peter
