Audio Systems: 98 CARAVAN REPLACED STEREO BUT NO SOUND, speaker wires, original radio

Question
I PULLED OUT THE ORIGINAL RADIO FROM THE '98 SO I COULD HAVE A CD PLAYER.  REPLACING IT WITH A CLARION. I GOT THE WIRING HARNESS FROM BEST BUY, CONSISTING FASTENED ALL THE COLOR CODED WIRES TOGETHER. AT FIRST THE RADIO WOULDN;T COME ON AT ALL SO MY FRIEND REVERSED CONNECTIONS (grey plug to black, black plug to grey. The radio flickered on for a second but apparently blew a fuse.  I put everything back the way it should be.  now the radio comes on but no sound.  Did I do some  damage I'm not aware of?  How can I trouble shoot this?

Answer
May have fried the deck. Sorry to tell you. If you remove it and return it to the store, you MAY be able to get warranty if you keep it's history to yourself. If you do get warranty, just have them install the new one. Something went very wrong here, and there is no sense doing it over again. Have them check for shorts (to each other and to ground) in the speaker wires before they start, just in case.
