Audio Systems: Orig. Lincoln Sony cd player. reset button?, lincoln mark vii, viper alarm system

Question
Hi, Mark

I read all the "cd reset" questions/responses and the suggested wiring tests.  My lighter, dome lights and flashers work, even when the ignition is off.  My turn indicators work only with the ignition on. I wonder if my situation is different enough that I may have a simpler solution.

My purchased last November) 1992 Lincoln Mark VII car's Sony 10 CD player (in the trunk) was working just fine.  A couple of weeks ago, I took the cd box inside my home and played some of the CDs.

The next time (I believe) that I tried to play the car's CD  player, I got the "reset" display.  Here are some facts that may be helpful.  There is no problem with my radio - it works fine.

Prior to removing the CD holder and using it as a portable CD carrier, I have never had to do anything other than remove a disc that did not seem to agree with the player.

There is a separate Sony CD control panel.  Not far from that panel is also a "disarm" switch for my automatic Viper Alarm system.

A couple of weeks ago, for the first time, I used the "disarm" switch.  For a day or so the alarm remote button seemed to have a problem, then all was fine with it and still is now.  However, it is possible that the CD player stopped working during that time.  I didn't make a possible connection until a couple of days ago.

The one thing that I did notice was that the "beeeeep" "beeeeeep" sound was not going on.  Since I bought the car in November, I have always just hit the clock button (or any other button on the control panel) to stop it each time that I started the car.  I never hear that sound any more.

Also recently, I have started sometimes using my hazard blinkers when backing into my driveway.  One time I forgot to turn them off.  They stayed on all night long and it took a boost to start the car.

Following that, my battery continually drained and I would recharge it myself every few days.  I thought that it might be the alternator, but a mechanic just changed the 2 battery cable connections.  My battery has been fine since then, but could something else have been touched to upset the CD player?

Finally, within these same 2-3 weeks, I requested a check on my starter and I was told that my starter is fine, but maybe the solinoid (spelling?) switch needs replacing.  I also was shown how to touch a screwdriver to the switch to start the car, if ever necessary.  It has not been necessary, although often I must try the ignition several times before the car starts.  Other times the engine turns right away....

Is it possible that something under the hood, under the panel, or in the trunk has been bumped and, therefore I have a simple problem?  Does it sound like the Viper sentry system is involved somehow?  Is there a button somewhere that can start that annoying, but probably essential beeeping again?

Please help.  I have lots of analytical ability, but I am hardly electronically inclined.

Regards

I always use FM 88.3 as the pickup station.

Sorry, please dont think me rude, but I'm not actually seeing exactly what it is you're asking with all this.
I think the question is that you have a cd changer in the trunk and the display inside the car is saying reset?  do you have a stand alone type cd changer that has it's own display and comes through the stereo's FM radio?  or is it wired to your cd player up front (sony cd player with matching sony changer for example?)
USually a reset with these units consists of simply removing power and reconnecting it.  Most of these units will have a plug on them and you can just remove that, wait a few minutes and plug it back in.  IF there's no plug just disconnect the car battery for 30 min or so and hook it back.  that's a reset in most cases,  if that doesnt work there may just be something wrong with it(broken).
