Audio Systems: Power to deck - but no sound?, salad spoon, factory speakers

Question
I have a Clarion vxr925 Dvd deck in my car - I've had it forver and it has always worked perfectly until a month ago.  For awhile the sound would go out every now and then randomely. I used to be able to push on the deck itself and it would start working again.  Now it doesn't work at all except for when I first start my car; it will work fine for 30 seconds to 3 minutes and then the sound will just stop.  All other functions work, dvds still play, radio station still tunes, etc.  I do not have any other outside equipment in my car, just factory speakers and I have nopt had any work done it.  Any ideas how to fix?

Answer
Are you sure it is not a VRX925 model?

I don't know if you have it connected to external speakers or not.  Or, do you listen to built in speakers?

In any event, the problem is likely an intermittent connection in the audio amplifier that finally went totally on the loose.

So, FIRST, try a hard reset; it must be disconnected from power totally for at least 30 minutes. That will reset all the internal soft codes.

If the reset does not help, NEXT, you can open up the unit and poke around with a wooden probe (like the handle of a wooden salad spoon) to gently push on some of the internal parts in search of restoring it to full operation.

In the worst case you will need a tech to look at; by testing the various sections a good expert can zero in on it quickly, I think.

Good Luck to you,
