Audio Systems: no sound from speakers, cd decks, lincoln continental

Question
92 lincoln continental, hooking up an aftermarket deck i got it turned on but there is no noise coming  from the speakers when i hook it up. this car has two modules, one is a am/fm and below it is a cd player, they both have a constant pwr, 12volt,and ground wire. i got the deck hooked up to the top module. ive hooked up cd decks on every thing but a ford and am very confused. i'm hoping there is a little trick to it. thank you very much.

Answer
Hi Zack,
Shooting in the dark here, Make and model of car is insignificant as all it does is hold the stuff in place and produce 12volts but make model of radio and CD deck would have helped.

Providing both units have the correct power and earth, (you didn't say 12v acc so I assume there isn't and just 12vdc battery power and both units are constantly 'hot'.)

Connecting the data cable from one unit to the other should show up the CD controls on the radio if compatable and changing "source" should switch it over to CD.

As I said I am a bit in the dark so I hope that helped a little, difficult enough when you not on the spot, so to speak.
Regards, Peter

Does the radio work on its own with the CD deck disconnected?
