Audio Systems: Car Stereo Problem, newer cars, unique auto

Question
Hello,
When I connect my car stereo to the car, it switches on
fine. But when I put it on cd player mode, it starts fuzzing then
just cuts out, I know it is not due to the stereo because I tried it
in someone else's car and it works fine. There must be a lack of
power somewhere, is there an extra cable I can buy to give it
more power, to stop it from cutting out.

Thanks for your time.

Answer
Installing a stereo/cd player into a unique auto requires very specific attention to the wiring.  All cars are different and color coding of wires does not always match the way you would think.

Go to www.installdr.com and you may find your car listed if it is a few years old.  Newer cars, you can purchase a wiring harness for your model at www.crutchfield.com.  Just enter your car year and model; it will lead you to various options.

And, yes, there are two, sometimes three power lines going into the unit; one stays on all the time and the others are switched through the ignition.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
