Audio Systems: JVC car radio problem, dodge caravan, aftermarket radio

Question
I have an aftermarket radio in my 2001 Dodge Caravan.  The radio has played fine for about a year, then it just shut off.  I got another radio, new one, same model as the old one, thinking it was the radio, and hooked up the wire harness to the radio and I still have the same problem.  The AM/FM radio will not come, the CD player will let me load and eject but doesn't play, but the radio will keep the time.  I don't know if it's a fuse or what.  I checked the fuses and they are fine.  Please help.

Answer

This could be an overheating problem from ambient air around the headunit so you may want to look and see if any of your heater ducting has come off from under the dashboard. If it has, get it repaired to help prevent this problem.
There may be an inherant 'hot ambient air situation' with that particular vans' dashboard, but I am aware of none.
Since this is your second one, it may also be that the headunit is not quite up to whatever the vehicle/operator is throwing at it.

A tough one to help on over the web, but these are a few things to help get you started.

Sincerely,
