Audio Systems: radio swap, stock radio, radio swap

i am trying to install the stock radio from a 2001 ford explorer into a 1997 ford explorer. the wire harnesses are completely different. where or how can i find info on making this work for my mother -in-law. pleaseeeeeeeeee help.

well I do specifically say on my blurb that I dont answer any questions about factory (stock) radios but since you said please..........

I cant find much online about the wiring codes for the 2001 but I did find some stuff on the 97.  do you still have the 2001 vehicle?  that would help tremendously if we could hook it up and use a meter to see what the old wires did, write up our own color code and then just match them up.  if you dont have the 2001 then we've got some work ahead of us.  you'll definatly need a meter and you'll have maybe a 25 percent chance of blowing the unit up since some trial and error will be involved and trials ok but error can mean smoke.
