Saab Repair: SAAB remote key fobs., remote key fobs, gm dealer

Question
QUESTION: Is there any way to re-use a key remote from a 2004 SAAB, once it is used (bought from e-bay)? Local dealer says it cannot be re-programmed although they tried. I apparently need to re-set the used indication in the key? Dealer is GM and not expert on SAABs. Internet seems to indicate fobs can be re-used, but how?

ANSWER: I have only heard online that you can do it. I don't think that you can, at least that is what they taght us at the 9-3 classes.. if you find out how please let me know!

QUESTION: Thanks,Jim; Will keep you advised. Further to that, just lost my keys to a 1995 900s, and the backup fob no-longer works. Can a 1995 have a fob re-enabled without a currently working one? Would get the car towed into the GM dealer (with battery disconnected) but they are vague about re-programming, (try it and see, otherwise replace control module).

Answer
If the alarm is armed, as if you locked the car with the remote, then you must have apreviously functioning remote. Otherwise you would have to replace the alarm module. If the alarm is not armed you can have a remote simply programmed to the car. Try replacing the battery in the old remote you have and try to get that one working.
