Audio Systems: Good Audio for 1969 VW Bug, fiberglass kit, speaker boxes

Question
What do you reccomend?  I just bought the car, and it has the original AM Radio in it.  I want quality sound, for around $600. The only information I can find involves not putting speakers in the door panels.  Where else would you put them?  I have seen speakers monted on a cover placed behind the back seat.  I am so confused, and I am not alone.  No local installers will touch the car.  HELP?

Answer
well. I think getting an aftermarket cd player to fit may be the hardest part.  the door speakers are 4" speakers and there are many that fit so I'm not sure why everyone's saying not to use that.  I dont know how much of a do it yourselfer you are but my sugestion would be to learn how to fiberglass.  you can get a fiberglass kit online and even at homedepot.  you can fabricate your own kickpannel speaker boxes out of fiberglass and you can also fabricate a dash piece for the cd player to go into.  there are many online tutorials showing step by step instructions on how to do it.  here's a good one:

Good luck!
