RV Repair: towing, dodge 2500, ford ranger

Question
Would a step bumper on my Ford Ranger be as adequate as a class 3 hitch for towing my 30' Trail Lite (5,000 lbs.)?  The ranger has a 4.0L V/6.  It is rated for 6,000 lbs..  I also have a Dodge 2500 Van with a 318.  I know the van is more than capable.  But, in the interest of gas economy, I am contemplating using the Ranger.  What do you think?  Thank you for your anticipated input.----Jack

Answer
Jack:
I understand you gas concern but your Ranger is just not strong enough for the job. Additinally the step bumper is also too light you would have to install the correct hitch to the Ranger. By the time you add up all the costs and potential troubles use your Dodge.
