Audio Systems: yamaha DSP A1 (center speaker), yamaha dsp a1, amp output

Question
Hi i just bought the Yamaha DSP A1 from a friend. I have set it all up and I am very very impressed. All speakers are working perfectly (Front right and left and rear right and left) . BUT I can not get the center speaker to work. I have tried everything. It isnt the speaker or the wire because I have tried various ones of each. I have tried normal connection and banna plug. I have tried everything in the manual ( well i think i have tried everything). There is just nothing coming through, not even any hum/hiss. I listened to it at my friends before buying and it was working perfect, he doesnt no what is wrong either. Please can you give me any information you can. It would be really appreciated. I bet it is something really simple. Thankyou very much.

Answer
Yamaha has a hook up diagram page at:

http://www.yamaha.com/yec/customer/hookupdiagram.html?CTID=5010070

You may find something there that will help.

BUT:  The center speaker is a no brainer; you connect the speaker wires and wala it works - or it should.  (If you have the settings for normal video viewing/listening, because the center speaker is a voice fill in when watching tv or video programs.)

Here is a way to check the system:

ONE:  Disconnect the right front speaker at the back of the receiver.  Then, move the center speaker over to the right front.  This will prove the center speaker is working correctly.

TWO:  Connect the right front speaker wire to the center amp  output.  This will prove that a good speaker is or is not getting audio.

THREE:  Now you know if the problem is internal to the receiver or external (meaning speaker wiring or speaker defects).

FOUR:  If the problem is a bad speaker or speaker wire that is easy to fix.

FIVE:  If the problem is with no audio coming from the center amp it is either a bad amp OR improper settings of the rather complicated system that Yamaha uses to feed signal to the center voice speaker.  So, study the owners manual carefully and see if there are settings that need to be altered.

Good Luck and let me know the outcome.
