Audio Systems: password, kenwood cd player, model number

Question
i just had a kenwood cd player put in my truck that i got from a friend and it says on the screen "enter password" can you help me

Answer
Many of the new models have anti-theft mechanisms built into them.  This discourages thieves from stealing the units out of the car.

When they are first installed the installing authority enters the code for that unit.  If the power is ever disconnected (which is what thieves will do) it will not again turn on unless you have the code.

Where do you get the code?  It comes with the original packing of the unit.  The original owner has it or the installer has it.  To retrieve it you must contact the manufacturers hotline and give them the model number and serial number on the unit and the original purchase information. You will probably have to pay for them to retrieve the code.  Most charge about $25 for this inconvenience.
