Audio Systems: How to remove the radio from a Toyota Avalon 2001 JBL, usa spec ipod interface, car cd player

My car CD player doesn't work.  It is a 6-disc changer.  It will
usually reject factory-pressed disc (as well as CD-Rs) regardless
of insert location.  If it is able to place the disc once, it will often
get an error code.  I would like to know what these error codes
on the AD-6900 unit (Toyota Avalon 2001 and 2000 JBL
enhanced unit OEM Aiwa) mean:

Error 1
Error 3

Anyway, the mechanic says its a short and my only choice is to
replace the unit for $700 but I want to have a look at it myself.  I
need my working Tape drive so upgrade is not a clear option
because there are no high-end after-market car stereos that
have say Tape, CD, HD Radio, DVD, Navagation, optional XM and
iPod.  That is the only upgrade I would consider.  So my only
option is self-repair or perhaps installing a USA Spec iPod
adaptor and of course buying an iPod.  So I want to take the
Radio out to have a look at it.

The problem is, I can't figure out how to get at the radio
mounting screws.  I have the 1998 Camry Chriten's manual
which they CLAIM covers 2001 Avalon but the central unit layout
is completely different on the 2001 Avalon from previous units.  
On previous units, the central panel trim is small and easily
removed.  On the 2000 and 2001 Avalon, that trim extends the
entire length of the dash board.  Do I have to remove the whole
dash to get at the Radio?  How do I get at the screws?

Thanks for any advice about either getting at my radio or if you
know of any replacement product that has Tape + High Tech.

this for the camry but once you remove the trim around the radio there is 4 screws  
the trim is hold with clips only  2001 there is one screw on top
700 is to much for that radio you can find one here for 300 www.partydown.com
your radio has the option of another cd changer external if you don't want to repair that or the usa spec ipod interface it also comes with one aux input in that box
