Audio Systems: sony xplod 12, sony xplod amps, speaker reconing

Question
Ok I have 2 sony xplod 12" 1300 watt subs , each bridged to  1200 watt sony xplod amps. I reun ,my amps full and am usually blasting it. First i dont get good bass it kanda just buzzes, i can tell the subs are hitting good but just not a lot boom. Could this be because my boxes are too small? Second one of my speakers makes a high pithed buszzing like sound when volume is low, could this indicate my sub is blown? Thanks for the help.

Answer
Yes, based on your description (the buzzing sound, especially at low levels) it seems you may have knocked the voice coils loose from their coil forms.

They can be repaired by a good speaker lab; most bigger cities have a speaker reconing and voice coil place that can do the job.

Your boxes should be designed for the speakers parameters and if not you can get lots of movement of the cones when driven and still not much loudness output; that is the reason for the box being designed with computer tools.  There are a number of optimized box designs for the xplods on the internet. You can find them with a google search.
