Audio Systems: Converting CDA files to MP3 files, jim lowry, google search

Question
Please help.  Have been buying programs that are supposed to convert CDA/WMA/RAW audio files to MP3. None of them actually work.  Some actually convert but the converted file is shortened, distorted or jusst plain impossible to find.  Some will not recognize the CDA files at all.  I bought a program from "Best Buys" called "MP3 Maker" for thirty dollars and that will not even run.  I think one of its shared files is the problem.  I did manage to get it running from the congtrol panel but it is so convoluted that it's impractical.  Do you know of any software that actually works, is user friendly and is available on a disk.  No downloaded programs please.  I am not a newcomer to computers.  I  have been using them for over 30 years.  I had my own board prior to the development of the internet.  I now am the webmaster of two sites.
I have used conversion programs involving other kinds of files with no problem.  But these CDA conversion programs just do not seem to work.  Please help...  Jim Lowry  k4hxy@atlantic.net

Answer
I have used the Windows Media player that comes with Windows xp or download from MS.  It will rip cds and place them ready to burn on mp3.

In any event, I would not pay money for such an application software.  Do a google search and you will find several free downloads that work fine.  Some better than others.  Some are freeware; some are shareware.

One that I haven't tried, but looks like what you want is found at:

This one is a download and not a big program.  If you really want one disc based it will cost you money due to the cost of pressing the programs onto cd (or other media)

But, it is not a big job, technically, and if you are having troubles I wonder if there is something wrong with your PC system or the operational aspect.

Hope this helps.
