Question -
Hi, I'm trying to hook up a 12" Dub subwoofer in my 2002 Cavalier but it keeps going in and out. I have the rear speakers connected to a line converter, the converter thru audio cords to the amp. If you could help me out it would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

does it seem to fade in and out radomly or is it when you go over bumps, or only when it's turned up high?
Check your wireing connections especially the ground,  it needs to be very tight and on unpainted metal.  use sandpaper to remove paint from the metal where the ground attaches and re-attach if nessesary.

Let me know.

It goes out whenever the volume is turned up. I even did what you said with the sandpaper and re-attached it. It still does it. And the ground is tight. Do you think it could be because it is a factory cd player? Or a ventalation problem? Or something else? Let me know, please. Thanks.

Answer
thanks for trying the ground even though it didnt seem to help.
My recomendation next would be to have a friend sit up front where he can adjust the stereo and you looking in the trunk at the amp.  the amp should have a light of somekind somewhere on it signifying it's on.  put on something with a nice punchy beat and have him slowly turn it up as you're watching the light.  if you see it start to dim to the beat and get dimmer and dimmmer the more he turns it up you have a power problem and I can help you with that.
If the light stays good and solid even when you're cranking on it then let it play for a while and see if it gets hot.  if it shuts off before it gets hot, or if it gets hot quickly, then there is a possability that the ohms of your speakers do not match the ohms the amp was designed to push.  see if you can give me the exact make and model of the amp and sub and I'll try to figure that one out for you as well.

Good luck! hope to hear back from you.
