Audio Systems: Repairing a theft damaged cadillac, car stereo magazine, cadillac deville

Question
Hi Kelly. In February I upgraded the entire sound system in my '89 cadillac deville. I took my time, over 3 days to do it right.  Last week my head unit was stolen, along with the dash kit and the factory brackets that had to be used from the factory install.  Everything was just ripped out even the tabs that secured the dash mounting kit.  So now I have nothing to secure anything to.  Do you have any ideas on how to get another head unit in there?  Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.

Answer
Will this be an insurance claim? If so, I would force them to buy you an entire dask from a salvage car. If this is out of your pocket, you can get by with a few well placed strips of metal stereo back straps. Or you could get a stereo shop to fibreglass a cool replacement in there with some add ons like lights, extra guages, cup holder, your imagination can run wild. Pick up a car stereo magazine and see some of the custom work that is happening these days. pretty cool.
