Audio Systems: hooking up cdplayer in a car that has a factory amp, olds alero, cdplayer

Question
i have a 2004 olds alero it has a factory amp in the truck i have the gm wiring kit with warning charm i hooked it up and can not got it to work i know that you have to hook up a wire to make amp turn on but the only way im able to get the cdplayer to turn on is by hooking the swicth, remote and constant power all together please help me in my problem thank you

Answer
you should never apply power to the remote wire on a cd player, this wire is the wire that turns on remote devices like your amplifier.
To determine what wires are what inside the car I would get a meter to test them, then you'll know where to hook them up to the cd player.  If you are hooking it up correctly and it still doesnt work, there may be a problem with the unit.

As for getting the amp to turn on, you will use that remote wire on the cd player, where it connects to may be the hard part to find, hopefully your wiring kit shows which one.
Let me know if you need more help.
