Audio Systems: Nissian pathfinder 2006 Bose ghost, nissan dealer, clientel

Question
Bought a 2006 Nissian pathfinder about 2 weeks ago. It will on occassion make a noise that sounds like dtd dtd dtd dtd zzzzzzzz (like static in an old sifi movie). The sound seems to be coming from various speakers around the vehicle. The sound will happen with the radio on, the cd, or even with the audio system turned off. Some days it happens, some days it doesn't. Had it in the dealer but they say if they don't hear the sound they can't fix it. I asked about replacing the radio, but they won't since they say it can be picking up from the engine, the ignition coils, etc. Any ideas? Thanks

Answer
Other than having to see it [in person] to help you... yes, I do have one idea, Sue;
Take it back to the dealer.
Let them keep it longer for testing [as needed], and if they still give you the run-around, tell them you will simply go find a Nissan dealer that really cares about its customers.

Todays auto industry understands that mobile entertainment is a huge factor in what people expect from a vehicle.
They cannot weasel out of this just because it is 'intermittent'. They also should not expect much in the way of clientel by treating their new vehicle owners this way.
This usually leads to that dealer going out of biz (so you may be best to go to a different Nissan Dealer [now] and explain the issue and frustration).
:/
Above all, new factory systems should NOT have ANY noise from ANYthing but the sound source (unless the system [or vehicle] is damaged or defective).
You do not have to be curt with them, but you probably do need to be assertive (yet reasonable) with your expectations of what new vehicle should be. In this case, I would settle for nothing less than a normal functioning audio system.
The problem you described (though intermittent) is NOT normal.
This should help resolve your concerns and attitude about them replacing it for free (which they should).
And (after only two weeks) you would think that the Nissan  dealer [which just made a small fortune off of you] would be licking the soles of your shoes clean to keep you happy...

Who knows..
Perhaps the problem was at the factory and the dealer realises it may require an entire new audio harness, ect... This would cost them a fortune in manhours to do.  I have no idea, but it would seem prudent to expect them to resolve the issue regardless, since it is new.

Sincerely,
