Audio Systems: SONY KV-32V35 PIP works but not Main, long term storage, sony kv

Question
Thanks for your suggestion.
This may be valuable information:  when we connect the cable into a VCR and then the VCR into Video 1 on the TV set using the Yellow/Red/White cables we can switch channels on the VCR and watch the picture fine on the TV, so I guess we can work around the issue.

Question -
The Picture-in-Picture works fine on the Sony KV-32V35. When I press  Swap the main picture does not change (still snowy picture).  We can watch videos fine on the main picture.
The TV is hooked up from the Cable into the UFH/VHF connection.  We do not have a cable box.
(the TV worked fine a 5 years ago but have been in dry storage up until today).

Answer -
It is not good for tv sets to be in long term storage.  Parts can dry out and cause problems.

Try a hard reset (in case of an eprom being corrupted) but I only give it a small chance of correcting the problem.  Hard reset is done by unplugging the power cord for 4 hours; then powering up again.

Otherwise, you will need an expert tech to look it over. There are too many possibilities to imagine with the symptoms given.  So, the tech will measure voltages and look at waveforms to see where the trouble might be.

It may very well be the main tuner circuit; replacing it will cost at least $150; maybe more.

Thanks for your question.

Answer
Using the composite inputs is a good solution and with your tv there is not so much difference between composite and S video; little more observable difference with component.  But, in general, I don't recommend component unless you have a really top of the class monitor.
