Audio Systems: 2002 Chevy Cavalier Radio Problem, 2002 chevy cavalier, chevy cavalier

Question
I just bought a used 2002 Chevy Cavalier.
The front 2 speakers do not work. I tried fade. and the front 2 speakers do
not work at all. I can't really access the front speakers because I'd have to take the whole cover off the door. Now, Both front speakers do not work. It can't be 2 front bad speakers, unless its a freak accident, it must be the CD/TAPE Radio Unit.
It has an Anti-Theft System built into it.
Will that be a problem when removing it? Also, Do you have a guide how to
replace the radio.  I would be greatful if you
did.
Is there any surprises that I may run into when replacing the radio with an aftermarket kit. Is there any aftermarket radio that you suggest?
Thanks for the help

Answer
"It can't be 2 front bad speakers, unless its a freak accident, it must be the CD/TAPE Radio Unit."

Why? GM puts crap paper cone speakers in their cars, and the previous owner probably blew them playing it at full volume with the windows down. As for taking the WHOLE cover off the door, that's like a 5 minute job. Use a 1.5 volt battery (AA works fine) add a lead to each end and touch to the speaker connections. If the speaker is dead, nothing will happen. If it's OK, it will crackle and the cone will move.

Replacing the Factory radio is easy, and no the security won't matter, as long as you use a proper interface unit. See your local stereo shop regarding which one it will need. Any brand name stereo will do fine, but try new front speakers first.
