Audio Systems: Cd player, sony cd player, power wires

Question
Hi, i have just installed a sony cd player which wasn't a fit so i had to work on it and there is just one problem. The LCD screen is not working.  Everything seems to work. During the day you can pretty much see the screen and whats on it. But when night cames i cann't see anything. What could be wrong. Please help...

Answer
It has probably lost the voltage feed.  Could be a loose connector inside.  You may have to pull the unit, take off the cover and wiggle the connections or wires feeding the display panel.

But, before doing that, make sure you have the ON power line powered.  There may be two power wires; one for direct power and one for turn-on.  Your manual for the unit should tell you which wires are which.  You can download the owners manual from the Sony website, but you must have the model number (or one that is similar to yours).

If it is an older unit it could have a lamp behind the panel that is burned out, so check that when you have the cover off.

Best wishes,
