Audio Systems: Toshiba has too much red, reddish hue, yellow pad

Question
Thanks very much for your response.  I can get into service mode with no problem, but am unsure what to do from there.  I am a little worried about messing something up.  What am I looking for in order to restore the red balance?  Thanks again.

Question -
I have a Toshiba 27AF41, manufactured in November 2001.  No matter what I do to adjust the color, the color always has too much red in it.  I also never have a purely black screen (i.e., if I switch over to video 1, 2, or 3).  There is always a reddish hue with slanted red lines.  What can I do to fix this?  Thanks in advance.

Answer -
Why don't you try going into the service mode and adjusting the red balance back to a more normal setting and see if tha will clear it up.

Do you know how to enter the service mode?  Go to this website:

and find the entry instructions for your set.

That should help.  Let me know if you need more.

Answer
Look for color settings.  You may have to experiment a little. I don't have the manual for this model, so can't guide you further, but be careful and get a long yellow pad and pencil; each time you try an adjustment write down the original and the new setting so you can always go back to the origina setting if it does not work out.

You can order the settings guide from fixyourowntv.com if you can't figure it out.

Happy success to you.
