Audio Systems: Cable barrel, antenna input, rca 27 tv

Question
Hello,

I have a RCA 27" tv from the late 90's.
After about 1 year I started getting static from the cable, several things have
been replaced with the cable company. What I new all along is that it is the
barrel in the back of the TV that causes the static. I tried several times to
tighten the barrel and the static always comes back. Is this barrel hard to
replace? Do I have to take the whole tv apart and if I do does the screen break?
Any help would be appriciated,

Thanks,
Bill

Answer
Dear Bill,

The "barrel" is actually a coaxial antenna input. You can get replacements at Radio Shack. You should be able to remove the rear panel of the TV without any problem. Disconnect the existing coaxial input and install the replacement. You'll have to solder the new leads, so it helps to be handy with a soldering iron.

Kindest regards,
